Headhunted to replicate the development of successful aftermarket full service retail,


Parts, Accessories business model delivering aftermarket products and associated
peripherals in Oman following the successful development in Bahrain of a similar
organization representing numerous brands, products and services. Whilst the core
components of the business were generic and the commercial rational was aligned there
were local market conditions and increased yield expectations with this model.

Since my appointment I have developed the retail brand and consumer proposition
aligned with local cultural, economic and commercial factors. Identified principle
partners and negotiated terms, secured exclusive product distribution agreements with
multinational suppliers. Created the correct infrastructure based on a solid commercial
plan and objectives, with clear and deliverable metrics in place to monitor performance
and progression towards goals. Development of Brand, its mission, goals and standards.
I have undertaken the recruitment, training and development of people and process
measurement and development tools.

Following the successful launch of the model I was given responsibility for the
rebranding and clustering of several other complimentary businesses in the group
including used cars and leasing, the concept being that these businesses would feed
each other with opportunity and allow us to exert greater control over the value chain
and exploit far more opportunities from it. The long term strategy is to transform this
umbrella brand into a wider GCC proposition.

The current sphere of responsibility is for aftermarket Service Centres, Leasing and
Rental, Trading and distribution of automotive related products, Pre Owned vehicle
program, Parts and Accessories retail .Automotive Bodyshop & Fabrication and
Automotive express Service centers with additional product streams and greater Market
reach than standard similar business models.

Currently responsible for circa 300 employees and a turnover in excess of 20m Omani
Riyals.

E.K.Kanoo is a highly respected family owned business within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The company is the appointed importer, distributor and retailer of many reputed
international brands, examples of which are Michelin, Zeibart, Volvo, Citroen, Lexus, and
Toyota.

Appointed to lead its Mercantile division and head all of the group companies “non new
vehicle” trading activities and companies, including its vehicle leasing division, used
vehicle outlets, tyre import and supply business, Zeibart franchise and Garage
equipment / auto paint operation.

Mercantile is a division of over two hundred personnel with an annual turnover of

performance through CSI metrics and KPI’s linked to performance reward
schemes for employees.

 Re structured the business to optimize performance, recruited industry leading

Lowrick (Europcar UK Ltd Franchise Partner)

June 2002 – April 2005 South West England, South Coast.

Upon departing Europcar through a transfer of responsibilities to Lowrick, an


independent company holding a franchise with Europcar UK Ltd. Main responsibilities to
direct develop and service its vehicle rentals interests over twelve locations covering the
South West of England from Penzance to Bristol and Swindon. Responsible for
managing a fleet of over one thousand vehicles and personnel of over one hundred and
fifty. Turnover 2004 £5.5 million.

 Implemented fleet procurement system resulting in 15% reduction in overall fleet


cost
 Increased centrally booked business by 20% by removing reservation barriers
 Led local sales growth from £800k to £1.5m in 2004 by promoting new products
throughout the business
 Reorganised and trained customer teams to achieve a stronger attitude towards
customer focus reducing customer service queries from 3% to 0.8%
 Budget savings by ensuring regular monitoring of performance and forecasting,
removing structural cost by integrating activities in sales, marketing and
