Position Description: Assessment Intern

Position Purpose:
Achieve is seeking an Assessment Intern for the 2010-2011 academic year to support Achieve’s
assessment work.

Responsibilities of the Assessment Intern:


• Conducting research in support of assessment design and development
• Assisting in the production of reports and white papers
• Providing ongoing research support and data analysis for use in national presentations
• Summarizing relevant policy reports and other publications
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with Achieve’s state and other external partners
• Providing general and administrative support to Achieve’s assessment efforts

The ideal candidate has completed or is working toward completion of a graduate degree, is familiar
with psychometrics or educational statistics, has experience using and programming SAS or other
comparable statistical software, and has research experience in the education policy arena. Additional
qualifications include excellent writing and communication skills; effective time management skills; and
attention to detail; an ability to handle multiple short-term projects in a fast-paced environment; and a
team-oriented work style. Some travel may be required.

Time commitment:
Achieve is seeking a 10-12 month commitment. The ideal candidate will be able to work between 20-30
hours per week.
