Dr. Baldwin,

I am very interested in the Doctoral Program in Higher and Postsecondary Education at Teachers
College, Columbia University. I will be completing my Masters of Library and Information
Science at Long Island University’s Palmer School of Library and Information Science upon the
completion of the Fall Semester. I hope to become an Academic Librarian with an emphasis on
emerging technologies and instruction. I also hope to become an Academic Library Director.

After searching for a Doctoral program that I can gain from and contribute to, I found that the
Higher and Postsecondary Degree would be perfect. I was also seeking a Professor who has
research interests similar to my own in the area of technology in higher education. If accepted
into your program, I would greatly enjoy doing research that pertains to academic libraries and
technology. I am also currently in the process of getting published, this article is titled, “E-
Learning, is it an effectual tool?”

Hopefully, you will be willing to provide some guidance and possibly consider being an adviser
