Sports Events
School teams have been involved In Milo Cricket/Orienteering,
Girls’ Boys’ Soccer, Girls’ Boys’ Rugby,
Auckland Netball, Coca Cola Netball, Girls’ Boys” Hockey
School Council:

Franklin Speech Competition


Following on from a successful school competition-Maxine
Rawnsley Yr 8 and Alexandra Roach Yr 7 represented the
school.
Maxine gained 2nd place.

Auckland Writers and Readers’ Festival


-45 students enjoyed a day with well-known authors.

Lit Quiz Competition


Elisa Jones took 2 teams of 4 students to St Cuthbert’s for
this competition.

Choir has begun APPA rehearsals.

Franklin Science Fair


-The School has 29 finalists in this competition.

Maggi Kitchen Showdown


-Internet Voting is now underway and there is much student
and staff support for the school team.

World Vision
-Rae White and the Rm 3 students organised the famine
fundraiser. Rooms 3,5, 11 and 14 took part in the World Vision
Stimulation Games.
Rm 11 and Jo Wolochaty stayed at school without technology in
order to raise money for the cause.

Rock and Water Trip

Wiki Brekkie
-Tracey and Raewyn ran a very successful presentation
about the great things that can be done with wikis.

Immunisation
-Year 7 students have had their first immunisation.

NZEI PUM
-This meeting was held at the Intermediate and all union
members attended.

Student Teachers
-During Term 2, student teachers have been in Rm 4 with Dom
Hancock, Rm 31 with Sarah Guise and Rm 36 with Janine Fryer.

AIMS
-Teams have been selected and fundraising is underway (Social)

Chocolate Sales have now finished-winners will be announced


at the end of term.

Japan Trip
The students are having tutoring in preparation for their trip.
Many fundraisers are underway.

UNSW Examinations
-Examinations in Term 2:Computer Skills, Science, Spelling,
Writing.
Support Staff Day-The annual morning tea in appreciation of
our support staff took place on the 16th of June.

ITC Rm 31 Students and Tracey Gibson visited Valley School


to assist with Google Maps.
Entrepreneurs Group:
-Students in this group have been working with Kevin Pope
to……….

Mathex

Professional Development
Staff have attended courses on the National Standards,
Key Competencies and ITC, Understanding Aspergers and
Autism, ESOL, Dyslexia, Reading Comprehension Strategies,
Franklin Literacy Action Group, Mathematics
