Notice of Availability of the Final Environmental
Impact Statement and Section 4(F) Evaluation for
the Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Corridor Project
Project Overview
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA),
in coordination with the Santa Clara Valley Trans-
portation Authority (VTA). proposes to construct
an extension of BART from the
approved Warm Springs Station in Fremont
to Santa Clara County.
Final EIS Release
FTA, in coordination with VTA, has completed a
Final Environmental Impact Statement (E18) for
the project to address short- and long-term envi-
ronmental impacts of the three project alternatives
listed below:
|. Future No-Build.
2. Berryessa Extension Project - extending
the BART alignment from the Warm Springs
Station to terminate near
Las Plumas Avenue in San Jose
(Recommended Project)
Silicon Valley Rapid Transit Project -
extending the BART alignment from the Warm
Springs Station through Milpitas and San Jose
and terminating in Santa Clara,
The Final EIS includes responses to comments
received during public circulation of the
Draft EIS, The Notice of Availability of the Final
EIS will be published in the Federal Register on
April 16. This will initiate a 30 day
comment period.
