13th ANNUAL
COPS FORE KIDS GOLF OUTING
On Friday, August 6, 2010, Cops Fore Kids will celebrate its 13th year of providing a day of fun and
relationship building between law enforcement officers and young people in the community. The
annual Cops Fore Kids Golf Outing is an all day event which teams law enforcement officers from
various departments with juvenile offenders, who are currently on probation, as well as with children
from the boys & girls clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth Steil and Seidman Youth Centers.
The goal of the outing is to promote positive interaction between law enforcement and youth. This
event provides an excellent opportunity for all participants. Not only are friendships developed between
the youth and police officers, some of whom they may have had previous conflicts with, but the youth
are able to view law enforcement in a much more favorable light.
The day will begin with a continental breakfast and registration, when the youth will meet the officers
they will be partnered with on the golf course. Each team will consist of two youth and two police
officers, with all of the teams playing a 9-hole scramble. The day is then followed by lunch, where each
individual will receive a door prize. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams.
The event will take place at Gracewil Country Club, located at 2597 4 Mile Road NW. Guest speakers
during lunch will include WBBL’s Bill Simonson from the huge show and Kent County Circuit Court
Judge Paul Sullivan. The day’s schedule of events is as follows:
