MALANTHROPE (v2.

0)
Imperial Designation: Malanthrope
Common Name: Corpse-eater, Ingestor, Scavenger
Species Name: Tyranicus Cadavi Terriblis

Following in the wake of a Tyranid attack come the Ripper swarms and the hideous Malanthrope.
The Malanthrope’s role is to selectively collect and process the DNA material of fallen enemies
before being reabsorbed, along with the Ripper swarms, into the Tyranid biomass, which is then
used to create more complex creatures. The Malanthrope’s full role is not yet understood and
sightings of these strange creatures are rare, as few survive the initial attack long enough to
witness the following waves.

The Malanthrope grasps dead, injured and unwary foes with its long groping tendrils. Its stings
carry a highly venomous, cardiotoxic, neurotoxic and dermatonecrotic poison. Injected through
the skin of just about any living creature it causes excruciating pain and disables its target,
which is then pulled up into the bloated sacks of the Malanthrope’s torso where the DNA is
slowly extracted – a terrible death for anybody unlucky enough to be caught by a Malanthrope.

Brood: Consists of 1 Malanthrope.

Biomorph: The Malanthrope always has Feeder tendrils.

Hive Mind Powers: A Malanthrope always has the following psychic powers: Warp
Field, Synapse Creature and the Horror.

Headquarters: A Malanthrope is a HQ choice for a Tyranid army. To include a

Malanthrope in your army you must also include at least 1 Ripper Swarm.

SPECIAL RULES
Large Target: The Malanthrope is a large target. It can be targeted instead of
normal infantry without a target priority check.

Fleet of Tendril: The Malanthrope glides along at a terrifying rate on writhing

tendrils. They are ‘Fleet’ as described on page 74 of the Warhammer 40,000
rulebook.

Multiple Attacks: The Malanthrope has a random number of attacks each turn. At
the start of each Assault phase roll a D6 and add 1, this is the number of
attacks from the Malanthrope’s groping tendrils. The Malanthrope does benefit
from +1 attack if it assaults an enemy unit.

Anaphylactic Shock: Due to its extreme toxicity, any wound from the Malanthrope
causes Instant Death. This does not work against Daemons – being ‘of the warp’
they are immune to the Malanthrope’s toxins
