COUNCILMEMBER CHEH TO CONDUCT ANNUAL “SCHOOL READINESS

TOURS” OF WARD 3 SCHOOLS

(Washington, DC) Councilmember Mary M. Cheh (Ward 3) announced today that she plans to conduct
her annual “school readiness tours” this week (Thursday and Friday, August 12th-13th). As part of the
tours, Councilmember Cheh visits each school in Ward 3 to determine whether they are ready for
students to return for the upcoming school year.

The schedule of tours is follows:

Thursday, August 12
9:30 a.m. Wilson High School (currently located at UDC campus) (4340 Connecticut Ave NW,
Building 52)
11:30 a.m. Janney Elementary School (4130 Albemarle St NW)
1:00 p.m. Eaton Elementary School (3301 Lowell St NW)
2:30 p.m. Murch Elementary School (4810 36th St NW)
3:45 p.m. Hearst Elementary School (3950 37th St NW)

Friday, August 13
9:30 a.m. Oyster-Adams Bilingual School (2801 Calvert St NW)
10:45 a.m. Stoddert Elementary School (4001 Calvert St NW)
12:30 p.m. Deal Middle School (3815 Fort Dr NW)
1:45 p.m. Mann Elementary School (4430 Newark St NW)
3:00 p.m. Key Elementary School (5001 Dana Pl NW)

During the tours, Councilmember Cheh will inspect the facilities to identify areas for immediate repairs,
meet with principals and senior staff, and examine the overall preparedness for the school year.

“I have made it a top priority to make sure that each school in Ward 3 is prepared for the school year,”
said Cheh. “And I am eager to ensure that all schools, including newly modernized schools like Stoddert,
are 100% ready. In essence, no leaky faucet is safe from inspection.”
