A Re”Search” Problem: Localizing the search engine.

The most popular search engines today, like Google many a times do not produce the correct results in the
first page of the search. Suppose that there was a company years back in Coimbatore and it shuts down. But
the website of company will still remain and the search engine will give us the old page which is not the
correct result. But the people of Coimbatore will very well know that the company does not exist....Thus
the search engine fools us…
To solve this can(?) a search engine be localized so that the people any where in the world can use that
search engine to get any information regarding that local area?
Eg: a small team can set up a local search engine for Coimbatore and update it. The various institutions and
organizations in the city can be given a login facility to update their status. This can provide the
information about the minute details of all the happenings in the city.
Can such type of search engine be set up in each and every city?
Is there any such search engines already available? If so why aren’t they very famous? What are the
problems in implementing such a kind of search engines?
Are there any other means to solve this problem other than localizing the search engine ?
