Barometric Pressure (QFE)

 QFE?
 QFE is a “Q” code commonly used for aviation. QFE means Q (Question) – (FE) Field Elevation. So,
Barometric Pressure (QFE) means the actual air pressure in the aerodrome elevation.

 What is Barometric Pressure used for?

a. It can be used to calculate a surface elevation from mean sea level

1008 mb

LQ Height = (1010 – 1008) x 30’ = 60’ / 18 m

1010 mb

b. In aviation, Pilot may set his altimeter setting according to our present Barometric Pressure, that will
cause the altimeter to read the height above our aerodrome and therefore zero on landing.

Dew Point Temperature

What is Dew Point Temperature?

 The Dew Point Temperature is the temperature at which the air can now longer hold all of
its water vapor, and some of the water vapor must condense into liquid water.

 At 100% Relative Humidity, the dew point temperature and and real temperature are the
same, and clouds or fog can begin to form.

 Dew Point ≤ Air Temperature
