M8 connectors for high demands

Essen, 15 March 2010 – The innovative connectors ecolink M8 from

ifm electronic set a new quality standard for use in demanding
applications.

Industrial M8 round connectors are a standard in today's automation

technology. Applications in wet areas however have been largely avoided
so far due to the poor sealing. A further problem with conventional M8
round connectors is the lacking shock and vibration resistance.

The new ecolink M8 connectors from ifm electronic have a patented

profiled sealing ring which exactly fits against the inner surface and front
of the device plug, providing an even contact pressure. So, the high
protection rating IP 67, IP 68 and IP 69K is for the first time achieved with
M8 connectors.
A metal ring with saw tooth contour protects the coupling nut against
unintended loosening in case of shock and vibration. This is proven in
tests with 750 g and 1 million cycles.

The connectors are 100% compatible and fit on all standardised M8

plugs. Installation is done manually. Manual tightening of the nut is
sufficient to guarantee a high protection rating and a high shock and
vibration resistance.
