BASIC ABOUT COMMON PROFICIENCY TEST

Eligiblity Criteria:
• Pass in senior secondary examination (10+2 examination).
• There would also be no restriction for this level being taken up after 10 + 2 (Or) with regard to this
level being pursued along with formal graduation course (B.Com).
Application Process:

• Register for COMMON PROFICIENCY TEST (CPT) in 60 days prior to the first day of the month
in which CPT examination is to be held.
• The main/final examinations for the course at this level (CPT) are conducted twice every year on
the first sunday of the months of June and December. The examinations are generally conducted on
specified dates every year. The dates do not change except under extraordinary circumstances.

• The student should make the draft payable at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Kanpur and New Delhi
respectively. Students, who are submitting application form online, are advised to take a print out of the
filled in application form, affix the photograph, sign the application form and despatch to the appropriate
office of the Institute. A copy of the prospectus will be sent to such students along with the study package
About the test
• The CPT (Common Proficiency Test) is an objective type examination of 4 hours duration divided
into 2 sessions of 2 hours each.
• Each session consists of two subjects with a total marks of 100. The examination is a
multiple choice examination with negative marking of.25 for each wrong answer.
• To qualify at the CPT, a student has to obtain a total of 50% marks in all the papers
together.
Syllabus
• One Paper, Two Sessions 200 Marks
Session I:
Section A: Fundamentals of Accounting 60 Marks
Section B: Mercantile Laws 40 Marks

Session II:
Section C: General Economics 50 Marks
Section D: Quantitative Aptitude 50 Marks
