GLUSHAKOW (Coonin)

On February 12, 1969, RITA, beloved wife of A.B. (sic) Glushakow, devoted mother of Joel
Coonin of Baltimore, Mrs. Harriett M. Sattler of Silver Spring, Md., sister of Mrs. Pearl Shapiro of Silver
Spring, Md., Harry Cawn of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Beatrice Stern of Jelico, Tenn., daughter of Brina and the
late Yudel Cawn; also survived by four grandchildren.

Services at Sol Levinson & Bros., Home, 6010 Reisterstown Road (at Pinkney) on Friday, February
14 at 2 P.M. (enter parking courts through Pinkney road). Interment Shaarei Zion Congregation
Cemetery, Rosedale. (Please omit flowers.) In mourning at 907 Painted Post road.

Glushakow Rites Scheduled Today

Services for Mrs. Abraham D. Glushakow, who for many years was active in synagogue and civic
affairs, will be held at 2 P.M. today at the Levinson funeral establishment, 6010 Reisterstown road.

Mrs. Glushakow, who was 69, died Wednesday at the Milford Mill Nursing Home. She lived at
4002 Glengyle avenue.

From 1946 to 1966, Mrs. Glushakow, then Mrs. Rita Coonin, worked as a secretary for the
Shaarei Zion Congregation and its Hebrew school. She was also a member of the congregation’s
sisterhood.

Mrs. Glushakow was a member of Workmen Circle branch 900 and was a volunteer worker for
the Levindale Hebrew Home & Infirmary and the Heart Fund.

Born Rita Cawn in Latvia, Mrs. Glushakow was brought to the United States by her family at the
age of 13. They first settled in Bishopville, S.C., and moved to Baltimore in 1917.

Mrs. Glushakow’s husband, A.D. Glushakow, is the author of a history of Jewish immigrants. He formerly
conducted the Baltimore Jewish Radio Voice on WBMD.

Mr. (sic) Glushakow is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Brina Cawn, of Media, Pa.; a daughter,
Mrs. Harriet Sattler, of Wheaton, Md.; a son, Joel Coonin, of Baltimore, a brother, Harry Cawn, of
Hollywood, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Shapiro, of Silver Spring, Md.; a step-sister, Mrs. Beatrice Sterm, of
Jellico, Tenn., and four grandchildren.
