Ephesians 2:1-10
Living in the land God gave us
Eph 4:1 – live a life worthy of the
calling you have received.
2:1 - As for you, you were dead in
your transgressions and sins…
‘sin’ – hamartia - a
shooting word.
It literally means a
miss
• ‘transgressions’ –
paraptoma – a slip
or a fall.
2:1 - As for you, you were dead in
your transgressions and sins…
How?
• Sin kills innocence and peace
“Sin brings a sense of estrangement between man and God.”
• Sin kills ideals and dreams
1. Strong aversion
2. Uneasy about what he did
3. Not bothered any more
4. Becomes a slave - destruction
• Sin kills the will
“Sow an act and reap a habit; sow a habit and reap a
character; sow a character and reap a destiny.”
Eph 2:4-10
4
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
5
made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in
transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6And God
raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly
realms in Christ Jesus, 7in order that in the coming ages he might
show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his
kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive
with Christ even when we were dead in
transgressions
• He takes away the sense of
estrangement
• He reawakens the ideals and dreams in
our hearts
• He restores the lost will
