Local report cards

Here are the key results from the Ohio Department of Education’s local report cards.
n The designation is the district’s overall grade, which factors in all other elements.

n The next figure counts the number of state indicators met out of 26. To meet indicators in math, reading,
writing, science and social studies, at least 75 percent of students must have scored at or above proficient lev-
els. 11 grade has to score 85 percent. Indicators also include attendance and graduation rates.

n AYP stands for Adequate Yearly Progress, established by the No Child Left Behind Initiative in 2002. As it
did last year, a schedule occasionally increases expectations for various student groups, such as black, Hispanic
and white students, with the goal of having all groups meet proficient levels by 2013-14.

n Value-Added uses previous data to show how much a district caters to the progressive growth of individual
students.
