words?
• Have you thought about who the
reader is, and written in a style
suitable for them?
• Do your sentences follow on from
each other so they fit together?
• Have you remembered most of your
full stops and capital letters?
• Have you spelt your 1-syllable
words correctly, and sounded out
the others?

• Are your letters formed correctly, and are

they all the same size with capitals larger?
 Is your writing Level 3?
Does it have everything from the
level 2 list AND
• Is your writing organised?
• Is it imaginative? (if it is a story!)
• Have you organised it for the
correct genre (writing type?)
• Have you thought about who will
read it and written it for that person
– formal/informal,
personal/impersonal etc.
• Have you used a variety of
vocabulary?
• Are your sentences in the correct
order?
• Are your sentences structured
properly?

• Is your spelling usually accurate?

• Are all your full stops, capital letters and
question marks in place?
• Is your writing easy to read and joined?

correctly?
• Is your writing easy to read, fluent and
joined?

• Are your sentences organised and in
paragraphs?
• Is your writing varied and
interesting?
• Is your writing in the correct form,
appropriate for the reader?
• Is your vocabulary imaginative and
have you used technical words
where necessary?
• Have you used a mix of simple and
complex sentences?
• Is your spelling accurate?
• Are all your full stops, capital
letters and question marks in place?
• Have you used speech marks,
apostrophes and commas correctly?
• Is your handwriting clear, fluent and
joined, and have you changed it where
necessary?
