Internet Access Policy

The Internet is available to enhance a wide range of educational, cultural and recreational
purposes that support the mission statement of the Yarra Plenty Regional Library Service.

The Internet is available free of charge at all 8 branches under the following conditions:

* The Yarra Plenty Regional Library Service cannot be held responsible for the validity or
accuracy of information, technical difficulties or service interruptions.

* Material found on the Internet is protected by Copyright. Before using the Internet, users are
asked to read the Copyright Regulations which are located near the computers.

* Parents/legal guardians are responsible for monitoring access to the Internet for children under
the age of 18. This is in accordance with library policy in regard to access to any library material.

* Users are reminded that they are using the Internet within a public library environment and
should consider the appropriateness of the material to be accessed or displayed.

* As access to this service is provided in a public place and through publicly available facilities
you should be aware that no guarantee of privacy can be made, either while you are using the
facility or after you have completed your session through access by others to history files etc.

* Users must not attempt to modify settings and library hardware.

* E-mail is only available through external providers.

* Charges are made for printing.

* Down loading is permitted but users must ensure that disks are compatible and virus free.

* Users must complete their printing and/or down loading before they finish their session.

Staff will make every attempt to answer basic questions relating to the Use of the Internet but
some users may require other training.

The Internet contains a wealth of information that is freely available. The Yarra Plenty Regional
Library Service does not monitor or control such information and therefore cannot be held
responsible for its content. If you would like further information regarding any of the above
guidelines, please ask library staff.
