September Family Project

Community Scavenger Hunt

This month, you will be community detectives! You will search our Austin community
for at least 10 of the items listed below. You must bring proof that you found
them. Proof can be a picture (in person or from the Internet), a drawing, a menu or
other printed material, or something else that you think will tell us about the item.
Put your proof in a notebook, on a poster, in a PowerPoint presentation – you can
choose!

To get a grade of 3, you need to bring proof of 10 items. You get a 4 if you bring
proof of more than 10 items!

Items to find (remember, you only have to do 10):

• A famous person from Austin • The mayor, Lee Leffingwell
• A natural landmark • A place to go swimming
• A place you would buy groceries • A place to rent a movie
• A place you would go to eat dinner • A place to get pizza
• A local hospital • A bookstore
• A place you would go to have fun • A bakery
• A school (besides Zilker) • A Great Place for Kids!
• A college or university • The population sign for Austin
• The name of a street • A newspaper
• A building that is at least 100 years old • A statue
• A place you would go to buy toys • A place to see a movie
• A place you would mail a package • A fun thing to do on the weekend

Projects are due on Friday, October 1st.
