    Domestic consumption of coffee in India grew from 50,796 metric tons (MT) in 1981 to an estimated 100,000 MT in 2009, with total consumption remaining around 50,000-80,000 MT from 1994 to 2005. Plantation coffee consumption decreased from 21,369 MT in 1981 to no data after 2005, while robusta coffee consumption increased from 22,210 MT to an estimated 90,000 MT in 2008. Arabica cherry coffee consumption fluctuated between 6,000-11,000 MT from 1981 to 2005.
