Verb
A part of speech that describes action. The three
different types of verbs are action verbs, linking verbs,
and helping verbs.
Action Verbs
An action verb tells what is being done in a sentence.
Examples:
Mr. Jenson swatted at the bee with his hand.
Rainwater poured into the storm sewer.
Linking Verbs
Linking verbs link or join a noun to something that is
said about it.
Example : The clouds are steel gray.
Helping Verbs
Helping verbs help the main verbs in a sentence by
extending the meaning of the term.
Example : The basketball team will be leaving for
their game at six o’ clock.
