DISSERTATION

SYNOPSIS

TUSHAR PATHIYAN

Aim :

To study and implement various methods of living a more eco-friendly life in an Indian urban
environment.

Relevance:
Our current metropolitan cities are under a lot of pressure because of the constantly growing
population. The infrastructures of our cities are not equipped to handle the load of our population
and it becomes our responsibility to resolve this.

In cities like Mumbai, there are very few open spaces available as a result we need to look into
alternatives to increase the number of trees in the urban environment.

Scope:

to educate the general public about the these various methods of sustainable living.

To consider and incorporate various design factors into future designs to promote a more
sustainable form of living with the main focus on :

 Green roofs
 Rainwater harvesting
 Garbage disposal.

Methodology:

Data collection

Literature review.

Case studies:

Kurinji eco village

Sadhana forest community.

Data analysis:

Analyze the information gathered.

Provide guidelines for future designs.

Expected outcome:

Provide proper guidelines for the lay man to live a more sustainable life.

new ways to incorporate these concepts into our designs and implement them into already
existing designs.
