The development of people, rights and duties, the environment

Chapter 4
Reminder from the encyclical

“Rights presuppose duties, if they

are not to become mere licence.”
( CV 43)
Two problems today with regard to
rights and duties
 There are those who make an appeal to rights
, which are arbitrary and non-essential in
nature and they demand that they be
recognized.
 Then there are basic rights which are
basically ignored.
The result

 Individual rights when detached from the

framework of duties can run wild
Church teaching on RIGHTS

 1. They come from the fact that we are

created in God’s IMAGE.
 2. They are inviolable
 3. They are not granted by institutions but
they are part of human nature
Mga ilang karapatan mula sa turo ng
simbahan

sinapupunan ng ating ina.
 Ang karapatang mabuhay sa isang pamilya
at magabayan tungo sa tamang paglaki.

kakayahan , katalinuhan at ang matanto ang
katotohanan.
 Ang karapatang magtrabaho at makibahagi
sa yaman ng mundo.
 Ang karapatang magtaguyod ng pamilya.
 Ang karapatang sumampalataya
