Life On Earth

by Renz Keanu M. Alfonso, B-2L

Earth, a vast sphere of land and water, is a wonderful area where life on the earth first
began. It was, therefore the title of the movie produced by Disney because all life which lies here
struggled to find ways to adjust and adopt. All the amazing adventures and arduous journeys of
many animals seen on the movie are because of the phenomena occurring here in this huge
planet. The White Bear and its offspring hibernate on winter; Humpback Whales swims to the
Antarctic, birds’ migration, and flowers bloom on spring; and Maple trees shed off its leaves
during autumn. The movie also tries to express the daily responds of the animals on the change
in their environment, how do they respond and adjust in the sudden change, and what risks do
they encounter in a day-to-day basis. It conveys much information about the animals like how
they acquire their food, how do predators chase and tackle its preys, how do preys try to avoid
dangers on being eaten by predators, and many other daily challenges which they encounter in
order to survive and prevail. All of these examples, as seen on the film, are their responds to
different challenges on Earth and many others.

Many animals living on the different parts of the world are featured on the film, but only
a few have caught my attention. One is the Polar Bear which hibernates for the whole winter and
wakes up when the sun first appeared in the long month and savors the heat coming from the sun
together with its offspring who was just still learning how to walk. The mother bear cannot
breastfeed his young and she still have to find food, but the ice from the surface of the ocean has
not yet melted and the mother Bear cannot acquire fishes, which is located under the sea. Also,
the other one that have liked in the film was the chasing of the Lions and the Lioness for the
baby Elephant as their food, but the mother prevents the Lions from eating his young. The night
came. The mother Elephant, unlike the Lions, Cannot see clearly in the dark, and the baby
Elephant was in danger. Fortunately, the Lions weren’t able to get the baby until the Sun came
up and the Elephant have to go to another place to migrate. The Elephants were now out of
danger.

The movie, like I said earlier, depicts the many challenges of animals around the world. It
starts from the day they were born to the time of their last breath; from migration to hibernation,
eating to being eaten, mating rituals to giving births to young and many others. Not only
considering those natural occurring parts but also the bad effects of dominance of human in the
world. Because of us, many animals in wildlife are now threatened of being endangered. Maybe
if there is no wildlife conservation, some the unique species of animals maybe already extinct.
Yes, wildlife conservation is artificially created by humans, but it is established because of the
sake of other animals living on this world with us. We are not the only one who have the right to
live in this world, animals also do. And we have to repair all the faults we have made.
Unlike other films similar to “Earth,” it dramatically portrays the life of each animals
presented. I said dramatically because my fellow students also shouts and cheer as they saw the
different hardships of the different animals seen on the film. It reveals the characteristics of
different animals which we did not yet known and only first seen on the film. It made us analyze
the animals presented up to the extent that we think about more differently than what we think
before. It opens our mind and makes is think about what will happens to them when they will
become extinct. Each animal participate to what we call ecosystem, and when one of them
disappear, all members of it will be greatly affected. In the end, I would say that the film was
very informative and an eye opener to all the happening occurring in the wild.
