OVERVIEW
• The great bus route is “TOURIST BUS” in
Mumbai
• This route loops all the major attraction of the
Mumbai
• The route have 60 bus stops
• The major sights in this route include
mahalaxmi temple ,Aarey colony etc.
PROBLEM
• The number of buses needed by the transit
authority to give good service and have
enough capacity to handle peak customer load
ASSUMPTION
• The customers rides a bus of 45 min
• The seating capacity of a bus is 50 & standing
capacity 30
Formula used
• Load passenger(in hrs)=
(number of customer*average time on bus in
min)/60

• Min buses needed =load(passenger hrs)/80

If authority use 40 buses
• Number of customer 42,000 load ,passenger
hrs 25,875
• Period of (8:00am -8:00 pm) the 24000 seating hrs
capacity available (=40bus*12hr*50)

• Means average 7.8% person standing


=(25,875/24000)*100
Conclusion
• Authority should go for 40 buses between
8:00 am to 8:00 pm to make cycle time 1.5
min .
