Lauralians Alexander Dumay

The Lauralians

Lauralians originally lived in the north of Nehekhara they developed a

small empire in the north of Nehekhara. The tombs kings expanded and
destroyed most of the empire and all of the records that were left after
their rushed evacuation. They sailed until they found land east of were
Cathay is today in the eastern steppes. Once again the Luaralians
expanded until the empire of Cathay noticed their progress and sent an
army to destroy the Lauralians. The war was long and gruesome the
Lauralians made a treaty with Cathay they agreed to leave the
Lauaralians with what little land they had left. The land was eventually
divided into 3 sates Curas, Lycini and Arvis. The states were named after
the three sons of Avatus the youngest of whom died 1256 years ago.
Avatus Oralias

The first emperor was crowned during the time of the Cathayan invasion
he lead the country through its toughest time. Avatus took the offer that
the emperor of Cathay had offered him and he is known as the immortal
king of Lauralia. The head emperor over all the state emperors. Avatus
left his empire in his generals hands and began his quest to slay a dragon
and drink its blood he wondered Cathay in search of a dragon to slay.
Until finally he came across a small Cathayan thunder dragon. He
attacked it relentlessly, he swung his sword towards it’s head but it was
deflected by the dragons tough scales. The battle by legend is said to go
on like this for hours until Avatus is knocked to the ground by the dragon
now underneath the dragon Avatus thrust his sword into the dragons soft
under belly. It is said that Avatus enticed by the power he felt and the
taste of the dragons blood he drained the creature’s veins dry.

Markus the slayer

Markus the slayer was chosen by his dying father to take up the seat of
sate emperor for Curas. His father was later persuaded to give the seat to
his most trusted general. Enraged by this Markus took his Gladias and cut
down his father, mother, brother and the general that was offered the
seat of state emperor. Markus dyed two years after taking the throne
drowning the river Tribre whilst retreating from an orc war band.

Tzu zen the betrayer

Tzu zen the betrayer was a Cathayan general that fought against
Avatus in the Cahtayan wars and when he was finally defeated by Avatus
and taken captive his skill was so admired that Avatus made him one of
his generals. When Tzu zen gathered enough strength he used the two
legions that Avatus gave him to revolt against him. When the battle came
Tzu zens legions did not move and they did not obey him. Instead the
Generals of Tzu zens army bound his hands and rode out to met Avatus
and his generals and negotiate the surrender of Tzu zens force and the
execution of Tzu zen himself. Tzu zen offered a challenge to Avatus-
Avatus accepted the challenge. Tzu zen took up his sword and shield
Avatus took up his dagger Tzu zen made the first move he ran towards
Avatus, Tzu zen raised his sword and swung it down towards Avatus’
head. Avatus lifted his dagger and blocked the attack it was then Tzu zen
realized the challenge was a mistake Tzu zen pressed on with his attack
no matter how suicidal. He swung his sword wildly left to right, slashing
down and thrusting whislt screaming and cursing like a crazy man. But
Avatus blocked every attack with his dagger as if he new his every move.
After Tzu zen tried of what looked like a fit of rage Avatus replied “my
turn.” He attacked with great speed Tzu zen could not keep up then
Avatus maneuvered behind Tzu zen and put his dagger up to his throat
and whispered “you’re a good general, but I’m a better fighter.” Then
Avatus cut Tzu zens throat.

The Battle Of Steep Hill

The battle of steep hill was the last battle of the Cathayan wars this
is were the Lauralian forces crushed the Cathayan army. This pitched
battle was fought atop a long steep giving it the name of The Battle Of
Steep Hill The Cathayan force deployed at the bottem of the hill with the
Lauralians deployed atop. The Cathayans army bravely charged up the hill
where the exhausted men met the better rested and trained Lauralians
the Cathayan men fought with what little stamina that they had left. The
battle ended as a Lauralian victory the Cathayans lost over
100 000 men and the Lauralians lost half. This is the battle that ended the
Cathayan wars.

The Cathayan wars

When the Luaralians left their old empire in ruins after the tomb
kings had destroyed most of it they sailed north until they found a small
section of land east of Cathay that was occupied by green skins. The men
of Lauralia prepared to make the final stand against the green skin horde.
The men were out numbered 3 to 1 but the fought on using their
advanced tactics they defeated the green skin horde. The emperor of
Cathay realized that these men if not destroyed would course his empire
more trouble than even the terrible green skin horde. The emperor raised
a force of 600 000 to destroy the Lauralians smaller force of 250 000 and
drive them out of the land. Most of the war was fought out as gorilla
warfare a new type of warfare for both nations in which Cathy had lost
200 000 men over the ten years the battles played out compared to the
50 000 Avatus lost.

The war that the emperor of Cathay intended to last a month

continued ten years. Through out the war the Cathayans lost 150 000
men to diseases were as the Lauralians lost 20 000 men because they
were filmier with fighting in the clement were as the conscripts from the
Cathayan army were not. The army of Cathy was crumbling and no new
recruits could be paid due to the expence of the war. Still out numbered
Avatus ordered his men to deploy on a 50-meter high hill with a steep
slope 200 meters away from the Cathayan camp. The army of Cathay
prepare for what would be the final battle of the war. The army of Cathay
ran toward the Lauralian battle line the rushed up the hill and were met
by the Lauralian legionaries due to the Cathayan army charging up the
steep hill they were to tried to sustain considerable fighting power and by
the end of the battle the Cathayans had lost a staggering 100 000
compared to the Lauralians 50 thousand.

In the end a bargain was struck up between Avatus and the

emperor of Cathay if Avatus promised to sustain everlasting peace the
Cathay emperor would give Avatus everlasting life. But if Avatus was to
turn any one else apart his first-born son the bargain would be broken.

The battles of border wall

The battles of border wall are some of the most important battle in
Lauralian history. This is were the 12th and the 9th legions where station
for the majority of the wars. These 2 legions held off the Cathayan army
for 6 years until finally the legions fell apart the reminisce of these 2
legions formed the where combined to form the 21st legion. The 9th and
the 12th survived 9 sieges and 2 pitched battle sustaining minimal
casualties until the army of Cathay used their dreaded black power to
bring a section of the wall down. The 9th and 12th had no choice but to flee
out numbered 16 to 2. After the border wall fell Avatus and his legions
held off the Cathayan advance for 4 years until The Battle Of Steep Hill
were the Cathayan force was destroyed.

Commanders
State emperors
State emperors are the appointed emperors of each state of Lauralia each
is chosen by Avatus Oralias. Each runs the state under the guidance of
Avatus whom rules over all. Avatus selects new state emperor based on
their skill at leading an army and their loyalty to him this prevents civil
war when an emperor dies. State emperors dictate the laws and what
goes on in their senate.

Conversion advice:

To create the Legionaries and the praetorian guard it is best to use

the Bretonnian men at arms models. To give them a early roman look it is
advice that you leave the models as the are but for a more modern
looking army you may have to sculpt your own armour. This is done by
shaving down the torso and adding a 2mm thick band of green stuff. Use
your sculpting tools to sculpt a vertical line in the center of the back and
the front of the torso were you’ve added green stuff. Sculpt about 6
horizontal lines all the same size. Touch up your work and let it dry over
night to make sure you do ruin your work. For converting your auxiliaries
you can use

Converting cavalry

It is suggested that you use the empire pistoleers but feel free to
try other boxed cavalry sets to convert your cavalry. For converting you
light cavalry you should use the whole model but replace the heavily
armoured torso with a spare lightly armoured one. For heavy cavalry you
just need to shave the iconography off. For all of your cavalry models you
should replace the arms with adequate equipment depending on what unit
you are using. You can also try using the glade rider box set form the
wood elves for your equities.
