How To Approach IELTS Reading

•Read the question first


•Identify the keywords (Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives) within the question
•Skimming: Locate the keywords with in the passage
•Translate the sentence with the keywords and judge the answer

Some Tips

•Questions follow the top-down approach, i.e. the answers generally are one after the
other
•Sometimes, the form of the verb needs to be changed while attempting summary
questions. While, this is not the case if a list of words is given
•Do not exceed the word limit
•If time is short, make your guesses as there is NO NEGATIVE MARKING

Some Tips

•Do not exceed the word limit when asked to write no more than 2/3 words in the
answer
•Do not write a plural answer when a singular is required
•Always write down the currency symbol before the value
•Transfer all the answers in capital letters
•Use universal abbreviations wherever appropriate to save time
