Child Safety Seat

Inspection Day

Irving, Texas, - On Sunday, September 19, 2010, the Irving Police Department Community Services Section
will be conducting child safety seat inspections at the Millennium Fountain parking lot located at the corner of
2nd St. and Sowers Rd. in Irving. The free inspections will take place from 9:00am to 12:00noon. Technicians
will be on-hand to inspect safety seats and ensure they are properly installed.

The inspections are a part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations (NHTSA) 2010 CHILD
PASSENGER SAFETY WEEK, which takes place during the week of September 19-25. According to
NHTSA, vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children ages 3 to 14, with an estimated 3 out of 4
parents not properly using child restraints. The department encourages anyone who uses a child safety seat, to
take advantage of the opportunity to have their safety seat inspected by a technician. The technicians at the
location will be Irving Police Officers.

The Irving Police Department is dedicated in their commitment to public safety and education and will
continue to partner with NHTSA in an effort to reduce injuries on our roadways. For more information about
child passenger safety week visit: http://.nhtsa.gov/Safety/CPS.
