` The word "frizzy" is used to describe hair that is extremely curly, dry and puffy. Most
women find frizzy hair to be unattractive and even embarrassing. Frizzy hair is
associated with a frumpy look, suggesting that the hair has not been combed or styled.
Also, frizzy hair is often associated with damaged and unhealthy hair. It is most
common among women with naturally curly or wavy hair. Women with naturally straight
hair may experience frizziness from time to time, but it's far less common.

` Frizzy hair is usually a result of two opposite factors. One factor is damaged hair,
which includes split ends, broken hair and flyaways. The second factor is static,
humidity or a negative charge on the hair. When these two factors combine, the result is
frizzy hair. Hair becomes damaged due to excessive brushing, exposure to styling tools
like blow dryers and irons, chemical processes and environmental factors such as
excessive sunlight exposure. Static can be caused by the environment such as a
negative charge in the atmosphere, and it can also be caused by shampoos. Shampoos
react with the natural keratin in your hair, creating static.

` The best way to fight frizz is with a good conditioner that contains amino silicones or
cationic surfactants. Amino silicones fill in the holes in broken hair. Cationic surfactants
neutralize the negative charge and reduce the static effect from the shampoo. Both of
these ingredients in a conditioner also add essential oils to the hair, making it smoother,
sleeker and shinier. The conditioner acts like a protective shield that combats frizz-
inducing factors such as static and humidity.
