Ergonomic Furniture
Definition:
ergonomics - A discipline that involves
fitting the job to the worker and not the
worker to the job. It is the science of
adapting workstations, tools, equipment
and job practices to be compatible with the
individual worker and thus reduce the risk
of injury due to risk factors.
• The working environment can cause repetitive strain
injuries which can be painful and debilitating. It is known
that Keyboard and monitor usage cause most chronic
repetitive injuries.
• Ergonomic computer accessories should be supplied
according to the individual needs of each employee.
• There are a number of products — such as keyboard
pads, document holders, keyboard shelves, footrests,
wrist-rests, and auxiliary task lighting — all designed to
reduce the strain to various body parts that computer
work causes.
• Specialized chairs with extended arms and increased
adjustability also address these problems. Other simple
ways to address ergonomic concerns include adjusting
the height of the work surface, increasing legroom, and
repositioning the computer monitor and telephone.
Taking Breaks
What can do you to relax when you are at work?

1. A brisk walk on a lunch break, deep breathing exercises, laughing, prayer,

and surrounding yourself with calming elements, for example, family
photos or ambient music, are excellent ideas.

2. Cut down on caffeine, think positive thoughts, and take a minute for
yourself when you need one.

3. As a break visit a blog that is completely unrelated to the field of work.

4. If you need to get away for a minute or two and can't leave your desk, try
visiting web-sites that cater to your hobbies or lifestyle.
