Hotel Reservation Application

Introduction

With the ending of war the tourist board has proved the number of tourists arrived to Sri Lanka
gone up by huge number. According to the calculations showed in official web site of the tourist
board there are no enough room facilities for the upcoming tourists. Hence it has to have a
proper mechanism to distribute existing people among hotel and resorts. This kind of Hotel
reservation system helps to a typical hotel to manage and serve best to their customers.

Hotel reservation Application may have both web interface and normal application interface. In
this case it is going to be identified and develop desktop application interface with required
database functionalities.

Background

Considering bottom level to mid-range hotel are almost uses traditional book keeping methods.
They do not try to engage with large number of visitors. Since then it is not preferred to have
large database with complex hotel reservation system. This system gives sufficient technical aid
to maintain a simple but professional hotel reservation system which could help both customer
and the user.

Aim and Objectives

 Define Well-structured database to handle expected functionality

 Make simplified professional interface to interact with Database
 Achieve error handling from the database level to make stable application system

Design

This system contains Standalone application with database itself. Furthermore following
functionalities will be added to the proposed system.

 Make a reservation
 Cancel reservation
 Quick search for required details
 Edit reservations
 Keep log of visitors
 Edit, Add & Remove visitors

Resource requirements

Since this is time critical application Advanced Integrated Development Environment will be
used to develop this application. The suggested IDE is Microsoft Visual Studio and suggested
database server is Microsoft SQL express edition.
