How to install ArcGIS 9.

1. To load ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 GIS software, map the \\files\SOFTWARE\ESRI
directory to your computer (you will need to log in to \\files using "PRINCETON\" , your
NetID and your password).

2. Because ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 is the newest version of the software, it is

recommended for use.  Open the ArcGISDesktop9.3 directory.

3. Double click ESRI.exe in the ArcGISDesktop9.3 directory to start the installation. 

4. In the ArcGIS Desktop window that opens, choose ArcGIS Desktop under the
ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 heading.

5. Choose "Install ArcGIS Desktop" from the list of options in the next window.  You will
need to re-enter your NetID and password to begin the installation process.  Then the
window below will appear.

6. Click next to start the installation, and then accept the license agreement:
7. In the next window, choose the selection for Browse for a License Manager on the
network, and click Next:

8. When asked for a license manager, type ‘kenge.princeton.edu’ (no quotes) into the
text box, and click Next:
9. In the next window, select ArcInfo as the product type to be installed, and click Next:

10. The next window lists various installation options for ArcGIS.  Choose to install the
complete set of ArcGIS features, and click Next:
11. Select the installation directory and then click Next:

Before the installation begins, ArcGIS will display the directory in which the software
will be written.  Click Next to continue.
12. Software installation may take 12 minutes or more.  ArcGIS setup will display this
page when the installation is complete.

Click Finish to close the application.

13. ESRI will issue Service Packs to improve and enhance ArcGIS 9.3 Desktop.  Any
relevant service pack for ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 will be located at
http://support.esri.com/index.cfm?fa=downloads.gateway.  Click on Patches and
Service Packs to view available downloads.
