Assalamu Alaikum (Peace Be Upon You)

The Muslim community in the Halifax Regional Municipality area, which exceeds 25,000
Muslims, has been longing for a proper Masjid for more than 15 years. Several initiatives
were taken to get this task accomplished, and by the grace of ALLAH a design has been
completed to build not only a Masjid, but a complete community centre that will serve both
the Muslim and non-Muslim community alike.

The proposed facility will provide several services and accommodate a range of community
functions that include a multi-purpose space (gymnasium), a seminar room, a library, a
computer lab and a media room. Most importantly, it will provide a large modern Masjid that
is capable of accommodating the ever-growing Muslim population in the Halifax Regional
Municipality area.

Currently, the Maritime Muslim Academy (MMA) is the sponsor of this project and owns the
property on which the project is being built. The Academy is a government registered non for
profit organization. MMA has an established Islamic school that has been serving the Muslim
community in the Halifax region since 1984. However, the new Ummah Masjid and
Community Center will have an entirely independent management (i.e. board members),
which is affiliated with MMA, to administer and run the facility based on the Islamic laws
and Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Mohammad Peace Be Upon Him.

The estimated cost for the project is approximately CAD $5,800,000, an amount that exceeds
the capability of the local Muslim community here, witch has spent around CAD $4,000,000
to have the weather-tight structure and we still have shortage of CAD $1,800,000. Therefore,
we are hoping that the larger Muslim communities outside this region would contribute to
this worthy cause and help in completing the House of ALLAH. Your help, support and
contributions are greatly appreciated by us and highly rewarded by ALLAH Subhanahu
Watala.

• The project is funded by donations from the Muslim community, which

has raised 2.2 million Canadian dollars so far.
• Furthermore, we were approved for a grant from the Nova Scotia
Department of Health Promotion and Protection to help with the
construction of the gymnasium for the amount of $768,000(and we
already received most of it), for which we are thankful.
• The following is the example of the statements for the Ummah Masjid
bank account. These statements show the debits and credits to the
account, where the debits from the account are the bills that are being
payed and the credits to the account are your donations, may ALLAH
reward all those who have donated and all who will be donating.

Please note that the account balance does not reflect the actual amount of
money the project has in hand since there are still outstanding invoices in
the amount of approximately CAD $400,000 that are yet to be paid out
for work that has been completed or being completed.
