Marine products exports from India reached an all-time high of US$1.6 billion in 2005-2006. Total exports were 512,164 metric tons valued at Rs.7,245.30 crore and US$1,644.21 million, an increase of 11.02% in quantity, 9.01% in rupee value, and 11.21% in US dollar value over the previous year. The European Union was the largest market and the United States was the second largest market, accounting for 10.90% of quantity and 22.63% of value. Exports to the Middle East saw tremendous growth of 33.96% in quantity, 25.87% in value, and 27.
