Description

Spirulina is a autotrof microorganism green-blue colored with column cell forming spiral filamen like helix, so it called
filamentous blue-green algae ( Cyanobacterium ). Body of Spirulina sp looks like thread is a cell set which form is
cylindrical with thin cell wall . Raw material used in the research is Spirulina sp in powder form. The research suppose
to acquire exact advantage method for extracting Spirulina oil between osmotic and percolation method and so can
continue to further process as biodiesel raw material. Osmotic shock suppose to break cell which extract oil within cell,
This process using acid variabel ( HCl ), with concentration variable (0,5;1,5;3;5 M ) and submersion time variable 60,
90, 120,150, 180 minutes, 360 minutes at 30oC which the first residue washed by 2x25 ml with the same solvent and
concentration, then added to the first filtrate and filtering and separating with addition of aquadest and n-hexane which
form two layer and distillation at 69oC. Percolation using one unit extraction apparatus ( three neck round bottom flask
equipped with condensor and thermometer) with solvent ethanol 95% at 30oC, submersion time variable 3 and 6 hours,
volume variabel 75, 150, 200 ml, residue from the first filtrate washed by 2x25 ml ethanol 95% then added to the the
first filtrate and filtering and separating with addition of aquadest and n-hexane which form two layer and distillation at
69oC. From the experiment can be conclude that the best yield is provided by solvent ethanol 95% with water content
in hydroalcoholic phase 40,91%, yield oil is 77,24%
