INTRODUCTION
 CONCEPT INTERIOR & FURNITURES is a best home furniture shop in
Koramangala , Bangalore.

 National Furnishing House, established in 1954 is the parent

establishment. In 1983 the name has been changed to CONCEPT
FURNITURES and it became private limited.

 They offer a wide range of well designed home furniture’s as per

customers’ need and requirement.

 The showroom is owned and supervised by Fayez brothers from 1988.The

production unit is built in 2500 sq ft. The showroom space is 3500 sq ft.
PRODUCT PROFILE
They produce mainly two types of furniture.

1) Office furniture :-
Modern office mesh syncro chair
Arm chairs
Height adjustable lectern
Office chairs
Cherry roll computer desk
2) Home furniture:-
Sofa cum bed
Dining table and chair
Racks and cabinets

Also offer interior home designing.

PRE-PRODUCTION ACTIVITIES

Procurement of raw materials:-

 They procure wood from Patel timber mart.
 They purchase glass and ply wood from Murthy glass and plywood,
H.B. boards.
 They procure hardware from Amison, Hettich.
 Foam from Intrade incorporation, Favourite firm, fabric from Dreps
avenue, Innovations, and Prakash fabrics.
 Mattresses from Springwell, Slupflex
 CONCEPT furniture also import the raw materials from China
through the sister concern.
Different types of woods used in the production are:
 Teak wood
 Sal wood
 Rubber wood
 Silver hook
 Plywood
 Particle wood
 Solid rubber wood

The factors influencing selecting of raw material:

 Quality consistency
 On time supply
PRODUCTION PROCESS
Machines used during production:
 Band saw machine
 Circular saw
 Plaiting saw
 Router
 Drilling machine
 Sanding machine

PROBLEMS FACED BY THE CONCEPT FURNITURES:

 Labor absenteeism is the major problem which is faced during the
production. The products are 60% handmade, so labor is the main
strength of production.
 Another problem is power loss. This work requires a huge power, so load
shedding some times hinders the production.
 Availability of raw material is another concern. Sometime delay in raw
material supply hampers the production.
 Hike in the sales tax to about 13.5%., which is yet another issue faced by
the firm.
 The import duty on machinery is very high. So they are not able to
import machinery from abroad.
POST PRODUCTION
Quality control:
 CONCEPT always maintains the standard quality. The
production head personally supervise the products. There no
separate quality manager.
 The customers are allowed to see the product during the
production time. CONCEPT maintains a transparency with
the customers.
 After completion of production, the furniture is packaged and
it is being delivered. They hire delivery van for delivering the
goods to the customers.
 They don’t have marketing or sales activity .If customer
finds any defect in goods they replaced it immediately.
