LORD’S GLORY WILL BE REVEALED

(Compiled from the message given on 1.1.98 by Pastor Ilango Antonyraj at Christ
Bible Church.)

“The Glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together; for the
mouth of the Lord has spoken” (Isaiah 40:5)

The word glory has many meanings like honor, praise, majesty and power. Also it
means great light or radiance which can be seen. The glory of the Lord filled Moses’s
tabernacle (Exo. 40:34); the house of the Lord was filled with the glory of the Lord (11
chron. 5:14). These verses from the Old Testament prove the revelation of His Glory. God’s
nature of justness was also revealed. When ever High glory revealed. (Nu. 16:19, 42). And
in the New Testament we see His glory being revealed when Jesus changed water into wine
and also when He brought back to life the dead Lazarus. (John 2:11; 11:40)

This year the promise of “His Glory shall be revealed” will lead you to see His
presence, His judgments and His miracles. The phrase “The mouth of the Lord has spoken”
gives this promise a certainty. Yes. “God is not a man that He should lie. Nor a son of man
that He should repent. Has He said and will He not do? Or has He spoken and will He not
make good? (Num. 23:19). This verse compares and differentiates man and God. Man will
always change his words according to circumstances. Also man is not always capable to do
what he says. Most of the times, man is unable to complete what he has started. But God’s
promises are firm and true that they will complete the task they are sent for. So, certainly this
promise of “His glory shall be revealed” will be fulfilled in your personal life, family and
Church.

What we have to do for this promise is to be fulfilled?

We have to follow three steps.

1. Repentance and reconciliation

“Prepare the way of the Lord. Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
Lord’s voice cried so. (Isaiah 40:3)

John the Baptist who was sent to prepare the way proclaimed, “Repent, for the
kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Mt 3:1-3). “Every valley shall be exalted and every
mountain and hill brought low. The crooked places shall be made straight and the rough
places smooth” (Isaiah 40:3). Our hearts (ways) should be mended and made straight.

Two things generally spring from a heart.

1. “Out of a heart springs the issues of life” (Pro. 4:23)

2. “Out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, pride, foolishness” (Mark 7:21). Issues of
life and evil things, both contrary spring out of the same heart. That is why Jeremiah 17:9
says, “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Who can know it?”
That is why we read in David’s prayer in Psalm 139:23 as “Search me O’ God and know my
heart. Try me and know my anxieties. “God alone can understand our heart. So we need to
repent and turn towards God. Jesus said, “Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand”
“Remember therefore from where you have fallen. Repent and do the first works.” So says
the Lord to the church at Ephesus in Rev 2:5. So let us decide to deviate from the crooked
path which we have chosen by our selfish inner designs and turn to the path of our Lord.
Then His Glory shall be revealed.

Now, once we have made things right with the Lord, through our repentance, we also
must reconcile with His people. Let us listen to our Lord Jesus Christ, “Whoever is angry
with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his
brother ‘Race’ (Empty head) shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says “you fool”
shall be in danger of hell-fire. Therefore, if you bring gift to the altar and there remember
that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go your
way-first be reconciled to your brother and then come and offer your gift” (Mt. 5:22, 23, 24).
Angry, unjustified words like “Raca” or “Fool”, which come out of our mouth, will reveal
that we have something against our brother. First let us be reconciling, His Glory shall be
revealed.

2. Believe and you would see His glory

Lazarus was one of the friends of Jesus. That Lazarus was dead. His body was
wrapped with a cloth and was buried in the sepulcher. Four days passed. That means it was
four days since the worms started eating the dead body. It will be started decaying; no hope
for normal mind to accept that Lazarus would come to life again. But Jesus appeared on the
screen. He told to take away the stone. But Martha (The beloved sister of Lazarus) said to
Him, “Lord by this time there is a stench; for he has been dead four days. Jesus said to her,
“Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God”? (Jn. 11:39,
40) To believe means by passing the natural reasoning’s. God the creator of the reasoning’s
can do more that what our brain can think or imagine. With men it is impossible, but not wit
God; for with God all things are possible, but not with God; for with God all things are
possible!! (Mk. 10:27) ‘Contrary to hope, in hope let us believe Him.’ We shall see the
Glory of God. Then the stone was removed. Jesus praised God the Father and commanded,
Lazarus to come out of the cave. Yes, Lazarus came out of the cave alive. Yes the Glory of
the Lord had revealed. Let us believe our Lord God who is the life and the resurrection
instead of relying on our own experiences, and knowledge, let us trust on Him and His word
alone. If you believe you shall see the Glory of God.

3. Do what He says!
Moses thought he was somebody in his first forty years; in the next forty years he
thought he was nobody. But in His remaining forty years he learnt what God can do through
that nobody. Therefore instead of relying on his own strength or weaknesses he started doing
what He commanded. In the last two chapters and Exodus alone the term, ‘as the Lord had
commanded Moses’ appears eighteen times. So Moses finished the work as the Lord
commanded him. “Then the cloud covered the tabernacle. A meeting and the glory of the
Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting,
because the cloud rested above it and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.” (Ex. 40:33,
34, 35)

What is the achievement we must perform in our life? Do you know? That is simply
doing what He commanded us to do. This should be our goal and aim. If at all if you ask
Moses concerning His achievements, he would simply said, “I did what He commanded me
to do. That’s all. Nothing more nothing less. This is my achievement”.

Here is a warning! We should never attempt to say that the Glory of the Lord has
revealed because of my obedience. No, never. The stone had to be removed by the
command of Jesus. Only then Lazarus was commanded by Jesus to come out alive. But can
any one boast that the Lazarus came to life again, because the stone was removed. No, not at
all. If any one attempts to remove the stone without command of God, that is not the deed of
faith, but it would be illegal-anti social action.

Let us heed His voice carefully and do it. Only then we shall see the Glory of God!
Yes the Glory of the Lord shall be revealed in your life, family and ministry.

“THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL BE REVEALED

THE MOUTH OF THE LORD SAID IT,
ALL THESE SHALL SEE IT TOGETHER
THE WORD OF THE LORD NEVER CHANGES”
Amen!
