Case Report:

MUMBAI:

The cyber crime cell of Mumbai police on Tuesday arrested a man from New Delhi for
allegedly sending threat emails to lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar.
TOI was the first to report in its June 10 edition that the IP address of the computer from
which the threat emails were sent was traced to New Delhi.

The accused, Aneesul Islam Abdul Kalam (21), who hails from Kanpur, is a Delhi
resident and works as an accountant at MS South Asia Hospitality Services in New Delhi.
He has been booked and remanded in police custody till July 29.

On May 12, Akhtar, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, received death threats on
email after he gave his opinion in a debate organised by a news channel on the Darul
Uloom Deoband fatwa against Muslim women from working alongside men.

Immediately after the telecast, Akhtar received five threat emails from the id
aneesul@yahoomail.com. The cyber crime cell then registered an FIR. During the course
of investigations, the police traced the IP address of the computer to Kalam's office,
located on the fourth floor of Power House in New Delhi.

"We raided the office and recovered the hard disc. The computer was being used by
Kalam,'' said Himanshu Roy, joint commissioner of police (crime). "The police team then
went to Kalam's residence but he was not traceable,'' said Nandkishore More, senior
inspector,cybercrimcell.

The police also found that two of the emails were sent from a mobile. The police, with
the help of the mobile service operator, traced the cellphone to Kanpur. The SIM card
used by the accused was in someone else's name, the police said.

"We believe that he had forged documents and procured the SIM card. We are now trying
to figure out who else helped him in the case,'' said Deven Bharti, the additional
commissioner of police.
CONCLUSION:

Please provide technical assistance how to block junk emails and unwanted emails to
yahoo address. If they are in your Spam/Bulk folder... just ignore them. You don't EVER have to
open that folder unless you were expecting something in your In Box that you hadn't received.
Otherwise, don't open it, don't open emails in it. You don't even have to delete the emails in that
folder. Yahoo empties that and the Trash folders for us every 3 days or so. If in your In Box, then
all you can do is either just delete them, or mark them as spam.
