Main Focus 2 5”x5”
Contrast 3 1 6 x 10 ½”
Contrast 4 1 5”x5”

Block Construction Lay pieced basket on table right side up

Fold Background 12 ½ x 12 ½” in half Lay appliquéd handle on background right


diagonally and lightly press. Repeat side together with pieced basket.

Maple Leaf (Block size including seam allowance 12½ x 12½)

Fabric Requirements (for 1 Maple Leaf)


Make from 4 different fabrics
Fabric # of pieces Size
Background 2 2 7/8 x 2 7/8 ”
(always cream) 1 2½ x 2½ “
2 2 x 2”
Focus 1 2½ x 2½ “
Contrast 2 2 7/8 x 2 7/8”
Contrast 3 2½ x 2½ “

Block Construction Block Layout

Press >
Make 4 half square triangles.
Press <
Make 1 stem
Press >
Mark diagonal line through both 2 x 2
background squares. Make 4 and sew together to make 12½ x 12½
block
Place one of the 2 x 2 background
squares on top of the 2½ x 2½ “ focus
fabric. Right sides together.

Sew on pencil line.

Trim to 1/4”seam.

Press towards stem.


NOTE:
Repeat on other corner.
You can keep these as individual Maple leaf
blocks and use the single 6 x 6” blocks in
different ways in your layout at the end.

There will be a few more 6 x 6” blocks


coming later in the year.
