• Futsal is played between two teams. There is a maximum number of 12


players per team with 5 on the pitch at any one time.
• There is up to 7 substitutions allowed per game with a flying substitution
method and no substitution limit.
• Games last for 22 minutes each half, with half time lasting a maximum of 15
minutes.
• One time out is allowed per team per half.
• Following a coin toss the winning team kicks off. The opposing team waits
outside the centre circle until the ball has been touched.
• If the ball touches the line it is considered as in.
• Usual Equipment: Numbered shirts, shorts, socks, protective shin-guards and
footwear with rubber soles.
• Scoring: When the whole of the ball has passed over the goal line, between
the goal posts and under the crossbar (except by illegal means).
• Fouls or misconducts leading to a direct free kick:
 kicking or attempting to kick an opponent
 tripping or jumping at an opponent
 charging an opponent in a violent or dangerous manner
 striking, attempting to strike, or spitting at an opponent
 holding/pushing an opponent
 sliding at an opponent (i.e., sliding tackle)
 handling the ball (except goalkeeper)
Leading to an indirect free kick:
 dangerous play (e.g. attempting to kick ball held by goalkeeper)
 obstruction
 charging the goalkeeper in the penalty area (i.e., goalkeeper charge)
 goalkeeper throws ball directly over the halfway-line (without it first touching
his own side of the pitch or any player)
 goalkeeper picks up or touches with his hands a back pass or a kick in from
teammates
 goalkeeper controls the ball with any part of his body for more than 4 seconds
 goalkeeper touches with any part of his body a back pass that has been
played back to him before the ball has (1) crossed the halfway-line or (2)
been touched by an opponent
• Red and yellow cards are given in a similar manor as original football
