Warangal’enjoys the unique distinction of being the capital of great family of rulers, known as the Kakatiyas, who
established their soveteignty over vast areas of the Telugu speaking country between 1150 AD and 1323 AD, The word
Kokatiya derives from the name of the diety Kakati, whom the kakatiyas worshipped. The host University ofthis International
Conference is appropriately named after the Kokatiya rulers who patronized arts, sculpture, literature and science.

The greot circular fort surrounded by an outer earthern wall and an inner masonary one. The
famous temple of Kesavo-Sri Swayambhu, constructed by Ganopotidevo, was destroyed ond
dismembered by a General of the Quiubshohi kings. The rvins strewn all over however, beor
cloquent testimony to its original beauty and sculptural grondeur. One of its distinctions is the
possession of four great gateways Toranas, which stand high and sublime even to this day as
proof of the imagination, ingenuity and atistic orchitectural excellence of their makers.
Appropriately enough, Kekatiya University had adopted the great gateway on its logo.
THOUSAND - PILLARED TEMPLE
The thousand pillared temple, built by Rudramadevi is the most imporlant monument ot
Hanamkonda. The highly ornate workmanship on the doorways of he garbhagruhe, the artistry
6on the massive pillars and on the ceiling, charm the devotee and the tourist alike. On a narrow
platform connecting the Trikuta and a Mantapa to the south is placed, the celebrated Nandi, a
exhibiting inticote diverse
massive monolithic masterpiece in granite. Its profuse ornament
patterns the precision of its workmanship and the natural delineation make it a symphony in
stone.

Kakatiyo University wos established on 19th August, 1976 by upgrading the erstwhile postgraduate center of
Osmania University. This historical event signified the fulfillment of long cherished aspirations of the Telangana and
heralded a new era in the realm of higher education catering the needs ofthis region. The jurisdiction ofthe University was
confined to Warangal municipal area and later it was expanded to the four districts Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam
and Adilabad of northern Telangana region. Ever since its establishment, the university has been moking great strides in
achieving academic excellence and is accredited with “AY Grade by the NAC in 2008.
Kokatiya University is now offering programmes in Pharmacy, Engineering, BioTechnology, Law, Computer Science,
Business Management, Education, Science, Arts, Commerce, Oriental Courses in the University, constituent and affiliated
colleges. In addition to ths, the University is offering o large number of programmes under distance mode through School
of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (SDLCE).
The University is vibrant with research activities carrying out the projects sponsored by various funding agencies such
as UGC, CSIR, DST, DBT, AICTE, DRDO, MHRD, MoEf, Planning Commission, ICSSR and ICHR. The University Grants
Commission, New Delhi, has identified the Department of Pharmacy, Botany, Telugu and Economics at the DRS level under SAP.
BRIEF HISTORY OF COLLEGE
Kakaliyo University from its very inception, became the second university in Andhra Pradesh to impart ihe Pharmacy
education and to cater to the needs of Pharmaceutical industy in Andhra Pradesh, the first being Andhra University, altar.
The University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Kekatiya University is one the best Colleges in Pharmacy in the
country with excellent infrastructure, The college hos bout 5 crores worth of equipment and an excellent library. Most of
