JUDGING:
• Teams must turn in one bowl of chili per category to Judges: 1:30 p.m.
• Judges include local chef, politician, local community members and just regular “Joes”.
• The Best Team/Theme Award is given to the team with best tent decoration, costume, etc., and is
voted on by the judges and hosting Orchestra representatives.
• The Crowd Favorite Award is given to the team who gets the most votes by patrons at the event.
• The Best Overall Award is presented by the Judges for the chili that excels overall regardless of
the category of entry
• The Hottest/Spiciest Award is presented by the Judges for the chili that excels overall regardless of
the category of entry.

PRIZES:
• Contestants vie for medals, trophies, bragging rights and cash prizes
• Medals for winners in each cooking category
•. Best Overall Chili- $400 cash prize and plaque
• Spiciest/Hottest Chili- $300 cash prize and plaque
• Crowd Favorite Chili- $200 cash prize and plaque
• Best Team Theme- $100 cash prize and plaque

REQUIREMENTS FOR TEAMS & OUTDOOR COOKING:


•.Each team must obtain a Temporary Food Service License and pay all appropriate fees
($25). Application included.
• Each chili team must provide a photocopy of the application submitted to the Denton County Health department for their
Temporary Food Service License with their application for the cook-off and payment.
• Generators are allowed. No kitchen facilities available (i.e.: no electricity or water)
• No propane or other fuel tanks within five (5) feet of a building, tents or grandstand.
• One fire extinguisher, minimum rating 2A: 10B: C, at each cooking or serving location.
• Each chili team is subject to inspection given by the Fire Prevention Division of the City of Denton

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT COOK-OFF:


• Contestants vie for trophies, bragging rights and cash prizes
• All cooking is “Tail-gate Style”. No electric or water provided. Meats may be cooked in advance.
•. Public Tasting: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
• All cooks required to provide a MINIMUM of two (2) gallons of chili for public tasting.
• Teams consist of 1- 4 people, ages 16 and over.
• All high-allergen ingredients must be listed and displayed in plain view for public and disclosed.
• Chili Teams are responsible for bringing tables, chairs, and all cooking supplies needed. The
Guyer HS Orchestra Booster Club will provide tasting cups for the general public for a small fee as
an admission cost.

RULES:
• NO ALCOHOL OR TOBACCO USE
• No pets
•. No glass
• No firearms
• Event will take place- Rain or Shine
• No outside coolers for personal food or beverages. Food and drinks may be purchased from
vendors at the event.
• All high-allergen ingredients must be listed and displayed in plain view for public and disclosed.
• No personal vehicles parked within the event lot. Violators will be towed at owner’s expense.

LIABILITIES:
Vendor, its officers, agents and employees do hereby waive any and all claims for damage, injury or loss to any person or
property, including the death of any person that may be caused, in whole or in part, by the act or failure to act of Guyer
High School, Denton Independent School District and The Guyer HS Orchestra Booster Club, its officers, agents or
employees. Vendor, its officers, agents and employees assume the risk of all conditions, whether dangerous or otherwise,
in and about the premises of Guyer High School, and waive any and all specific notice of the existence of any defective or
dangerous condition in or about the said premises. The provisions of this paragraph shall survive the termination of this
Contract. Vendor hereby releases Guyer High School, Denton ISD, and The Guyer HS Orchestra Booster Club from any
actions for any loss or damage sustained by reason of any defect of any part of the water supply system, the sewage and
drainage system, the gas system, electrical apparatus or wiring on the Event site or tent(s) or any other premises or band
stand, and for any loss or damage resulting from fire, theft, water, tornado, rain, snow, strikes, civil commotion or riot, or
otherwise caused by gross negligence of Guyer High School, Denton ISD and The Guyer HS Orchestra Booster Club.
