Course description – This course is intended for individuals that want to become BPI Building
Analysts in the residential building industry. Students will learn the fundamentals of energy
and energy transfer, energy systems within a home, the “home as a system” concept, common
construction errors that reduce comfort and efficiency, weatherization techniques, and how to
conduct an energy audit.

Target Audience – BPI Building Analyst certification is highly transferable to Weatherization

Professionals, HVAC Professionals, Insulation Professionals, HERS Raters, Abatement Specialists,
Home Inspectors, General Contractors, Home Builders, Engineers and Architects.

Syllabus – Training will include Construction Math and Blueprints, Principals of Energy, House-as-a-
System, Building Systems, Construction Errors, Air Quality, Moisture, Combustion Safety, Air Leakage
and Blower Door Testing, Energy Audits, BPI Standards and Ethics. Field Training will include Audit
Inspection, Blower Door and Manometer Analysis, Air Quality Testing, Combustion Safety and Weath-
erization Measures. Course will include with review, written and field exams for Certification as a
BPI Building Analyst.
