    The Do’s and Don’ts of Expository Essays

    (According to Mrs. Miller’s 2A Class)

    Do’s Don’ts

     Five paragraphs (no more, no less)  One big paragraph as your essay
     Use FRIES (Facts, Reasons,  Forget to use punctuation
    Incidents, Examples, Statistics,  Use baby words (simple words,
    Sensory Details) dead verbs)
     Include LOTS of JUICY details  Write sloppily or BIG- the grader
     Write in complete sentences should be able to read it
     Strong ending/conclusion (restate  Begin a sentence with it, they, or
    the main idea, wrap it up) because
     Use proper grammar  Spell words incorrectly
