What is Canning?
• Method of preserving food in which the food is processed and sealed in
an airtight container.
• It is a Value Addition to the Processed food.
• First developed by Nicolas Appert (French Military)-The Father of
Canning: A Confectioner
• Prevents micro organisms from entering and proliferating inside.
What can be Canned?
Fruits,
Vegetables,
Fruit and vegetable juices;
Processed ketchup and other tomato sauces
