firmCHANNEL Network Troubleshooting (Advanced)

Player has been setup on enterprise but is not making a connection. Have a keyboard/mouse plugged
into the firmCHANNEL player and do the following:

1. Test to see if the player has an active internet connection by trying to access
http://yourenterprise.firmchannel.com
a. If the player has access to reach the website, then we know port 80 is open and
working correctly
b. If the player has internet access yet cannot reach your enterprise, its most likely due to
a DNS address not being assigned in the TCP/IP Properties.
c. If the player does not reach your enterprise, it does not have access out to the internet,
please contact your network administrator to grant access outbound to the internet.

2. Testing the FTP connection; FTP is used to grab the data from enterprise down to the player.
a. Open the command prompt (Run > cmd)

C:\>ftp
ftp> open yourenterprise.firmchannel.com
Connected to yourenterprise.firmchannel.com.
220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ----------
220-You are user number 17 of 500 allowed.
220-Local time is now 12:14. Server port: 21.
220-This is a private system - No anonymous login
220 You will be disconnected after 15 minutes of inactivity.
User (yourenterprise.firmchannel.com:(none)):
Use the username/password provided for enterprise connection.

If you receive the message “Connection closed by remote host” then you are not making a
complete connection to your enterprise server and is most likely due to the fact that the connection is
not making it past your router/firewall. If you do connect, attempt to do an ls command to see if data
is able to come and go.
