VOLUNTARY SEPARATION PLAN 2005 (“EVSP 2005”)
APPLICATION FORM

I wish to apply for the Editorial Department and Editorial Pages Department Employee
Voluntary Separation Plan 2005 (“EVSP”).

I acknowledge and agree that I understand the terms and conditions of the EVSP and that my
decision to apply is voluntary.

By signing this Application Form, I commit to voluntarily separating from employment

with Los Angeles Times Communication LLC (“Company”) if my application is approved.

I further acknowledge that in order to obtain the EVSP Benefits, I must sign the Waiver and
Release on or within forty five (45) days after my Voluntary Separation Date (but not earlier than
my Voluntary Separation Date). If I do not sign the Waiver and Release or if I revoke my signed
Waiver and Release, I acknowledge that I will not be entitled to any EVSP Benefits.

If my application is approved, I hereby elect to receive EVSP 2005 separation pay in the form of

___ Salary continuation payments

If no election is made, EVSP 2005 separation pay will be paid in a lump sum payment.
