transmission and distribution system

Prepared by:
L.C. Seah
Learning Outcomes:

• arrange in order the components in the

electricity transmission and distribution system,
• describe the functions of the components in the

Function of components

• National Grid Network

– System of high voltage circuits which interconnects
main power stations
• Switch zone
– Large ‘switches’ which can be activate/deactivate
specific electrical power transmissions leaving the
power station
• Substation
– Stepped down the voltage to 11 kV or 33 kV
