responds to opportunities & threat, that
confronts them by analyzing option &
making determination about specific
organizational goals & course of action.

• In Short, Decision making refers to


the thought process that is involved
while choosing the most logical choice
from among the options available.
Types of Decisions in Business

1. Programmed Decision- standard decisions which always


follow the same routine.

2. Non-Programmed Decisions- non-standard and non-routine


decisions.

3. Strategic Decisions - affect the long-term direction of the


business. Ex- whether to take over Company A or Company B

4. Tactical Decisions- medium-term decisions about how to


implement strategy. Ex- what kind of marketing to have, or how
many extra staff to recruit

5. Operational Decisions- short-term decisions (also called


administrative decisions) about how to implement the tactics
eg- which firm to use to make deliveries
