To be Discussed:
Effortstaken by iRobots to bring
the Roomba into people’s home.

Issues to be considered before

entering a mass market.

Is Duplicity of iRobots possible?

EFFORTS OF iROBOTS
 Introduction of several new features, more
number of models in different price ranges to gain
more interest towards the customer( e.g.: self
charging home based)
 Started selling Roombas through websites, so that
it makes customers sit at home and order the
product.
 Innovative ways for cleaning houses like unique
cleaning solution for Scooba.
 Approached Speciality retailers like Brookstone
Inc, to sell Roomba.
 Trained salespeople to give demonstrations to the
public
Contd…
 Rather than a robot they marketed
Roomba as a ‘ Intelligent Floor Vacuum’,
which is more approachable for an
average customer.
 Recruited an experienced consumer
appliance marketer Gregory F. White for
marketing strategies.
 They made it available in 4000 outlets for
easy accessible of customers.
Entering Mass market
They should take care of the time
consumption of the device for cleaning
the houses.
Addition to introducing different models,
they can introduce new features in same
model with considerable price.
They should concentrate more on Supply
chain management to avoid slacks.
Can The Efforts be Duplicated?
Its Difficult to duplicate the product due to the
following reasons
 More time consuming for research and
Development.
 Incurs more cost.
 The Industry is labor-intensive in nature.
 Brand Value generated by Roomba
 There are lots of intellectual properties
included and lot of knowledge goes into
building.
