By Charles Prince
What is Internet TV ?
 Internet TV is a service that most TV companies are now
offering.
 Internet TV is used for you to catch up or just watch
shows that you have missed on the TV.
 So far Internet TV is a FREE service.
 Internet should not be mixed up with Sky+ and other
recording services.
 One of the only companies to currently offer an Internet
TV style of services is Virgin Media with their Virgin
Media Catch up On Demand and TV Choice On Demand.
Internet TV providers ?

The main 4 internet TV providers are Channel 4 on demand, YouTube, ITV Player and
BBC iPlayer. These are only 4 of many internet TV providers. Channel 4 on demand –
Offers programmes from Channel 4, E4 and More 4. YouTube offers a variety of
different TV shows, but mainly Channel 4 and FIVE programmes. ITV Player offers
programmes from ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4. BBC iPlayer offers programmes from BBC
1, BBC 2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC HD and All BBC radio stations.
The Advantages

 You can watch what you want, when you

want.
 If you miss a programme from a series you are
watching then you can go back watch that
episode, normally for up to 7 days after it was
aired.
 You do not have to watch 5 minutes of adverts
after 15 minutes of watching your selected
show.
The future of internet TV

 In the past 4/5 years with the introduction of

broadband internet TV has started to grow in
popularity.
 With the help of faster broadband being
introduced into peoples homes the quality
and wider choice of programmes will be
increasing.
 Internet TV may soon be faced with pay to
watch fees if it gets in higher demand.
The Disadvantages

 There is normally 1 or 2 adverts that you can

not skip at some point during the programme
(except BBC)
 If you have a slow internet connection your
TV programme will freeze and have to buffer
multiple times during the programme
 The picture quality of certain programmes
will be lower then when they originally aired
due to multiple reasons such as resizing.
